Advanced Medical Assisting (AM81) Technical Certificate of Credit
The Advanced Medical Assisting Technical Certificate of Credit Program is a comprehensive program designed for students seeking to elevate their careers within the medical assisting profession. This program goes beyond basic medical assisting skills acquired in the Fundamentals of Medical Assisting Technical Certficate of Credit, equipping students with specialized skills and knowledge required to perform both advanced clinical procedures and sophisticated administrative tasks in a medical office or healthcare setting. The Advanced Medical Assisting Techincal Certificate of Credit provides a rigorous curriculum that integrates hands-on practice with theoretical learning, covering topics such as advanced patient care, diagnostic testing, medical billing and coding, and healthcare law and ethics. The program emphasizes the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills essential for managing the complexities of modern healthcare environments.
Graduates of this program will be prepared to take on more complex roles within healthcare teams, assist physicians in specialized medical procedures, manage electronic health records, and ensure smooth operational flow in medical facilities. Requirements
- Submit a completed application;
- Be at least 17 years of age;
- Submit official high school/high school equivalent transcripts;
- Submit official college transcripts, if applicable;
- Advanced Placement is not available for the Medical Assisting Program at Southeastern Technical College.
- All MAST courses must be completed with a āCā or better
- Satisfy Placement Testing requirements.

MAST 1030Pharmacology in the Medical Office
(Prerequisites: ALHS 1011, ALHS 1090, MATH 1012) (Co-requisites: MAST 1090, MAST 1110) Introduces medication therapy with emphasis on safety, classification of medications, their actions, side effects, medication and food interactions, and adverse reactions. Also introduces the basic concept of arithmetic used in the administration of medications. Topics include: introduction to pharmacology; dosage calculation; sources and forms of medications; medication classification; and medication effects on the body systems. |
