General Industry Materials Handling Specialist (GI15) Technical Certificate of Credit
The General Industry Materials Handling Specialist Technical Certificate of Credit program provides the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure workplace safety as outlined in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Workplace Industry Standards. Students will learn basic knowledge of manual, semi-automated and automated material handling processes and equipment. Successful graduates of this program will have the opportunity to become OSHA IO General Industry certified and, when they turn 18 years old, forklift certified. The program generally take one (1) semester to complete. Students are responsible for costs of certification exams.
Requirements
- Submit a completed application;
- Be at least 16 years of age;
- Submit official high school/high school equivalent transcripts;
- Submit official college transcripts, if applicable;
- Satisfy Placement Testing requirements.

| GIMH 1101Introductions to OSHA General Industry Standards
This course provides an overview of OSHA 10 General Industry Standards and is designed to help employees in various industries, including healthcare, factory operations, warehousing, manufacturing, and storage, meet their workplace training requirements. Students will learn how to identify and prevent common workplace hazards. Note: Students will be eligible for, and should take, the OSHA 10 General Industry Standards Certification. |

| GIMH 1102Manufacturing & Warehouse Materials Handling
This course provides an overview of manufacturing and warehouse materials handling processes. Students will learn efficient movement, storage, protection, and control of goods and products in a manufacturing facility and warehouse environment. Students will also learn the proper use of manual, semi-automated, and automated handling processes and equipment to ensure the right items get ot the right place, at the right time, safely, and cost-effectively, reducing delays and damage while boosting productivity. Note: When students turn 18 years old, they will be eligible for, and should take, the OSHA Forklift Operation Certification. |
