Hair Services Practicum I COSM 1090
3 Credits(Co-requisites: COSM 1000, COSM 1010, COSM 1020, COSM 1030, COSM 1040) (Co-requisites: COSM 1050) This course provides laboratory experiences necessary for the development of skill levels required to be a competent cosmetologist. The allocation of time to the various phases of cosmetology is prescribed by the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers. This course includes a portion of the hours required for licensure. Topics include permanent waving and relaxers; hair color, foiling, lightening, hair and scalp treatments; haircutting; clipper design, precision cutting, styling; dispensary; reception; safety precautions/decontamination; Hazardous Duty Standards Act compliance; product knowledge, customer service skills, client retention, State Board Rules & Regulations guidelines, and State Board foundation prep. A $30 fee is associated with this course due to the increased cost of chemicals and supplies needed to complete the requirements for the course.
